Brian is a retired Rolls Royce engineer who has manufactured the majority
of the metal fittings required for the fuselage up to its present state.
Below is a brief summary of his Curriculum Vitae:-
1952-1957 served an apprenticeship at John Davis which included
training in all aspects of machining, fitting/assembly required to build
safety equipment and scientific instrumentation for coal mines.
1957-1971 joined Rolls Royce working mainly in the small machine
facility which is part of the main experimental machine shop. He produced
small components for experimental engines and test rigs, the maximum size
of these components being 12" cubed.
1971-1981 promoted to foreman over the general small machining
department managing the every day running and being responsible, output,
health and safety and all aspects of man management.
1981-1987 promoted to superintendent over the main experimental
machine and fabrication department. He was responsible to senior management
for the production of complex assortments of components up to 8ft in diameter
for engines and test rigs.
1987-1991 promoted production manager of the experimental machine
and fabrication department.
1991-1994 became the shop manager for the Rolls Royce model shop
producing full sized model engines which were used by designers for routing
pipe work and harnesses.
